Support Our Camp/Youth

Community Partnership

Scouting relies on community partners to enhance the program and provide more opportunities for our youth to learn and grow. There are a variety of opportunities to partner with Rainbow Council for a mutually beneficial relationship. If you or your organization is interested in partnering with Scouting in Will Kankakee or Grundy Counties, see below for contact information to discuss a potential partnership.

Activity or Program Partnerships

The council partners with community organizations throughout the year to offer Scout units and families discounted and/or “behind the scenes” experiences at attractions and events.  Activities range from educational STEM experiences to “Scout Night” at a local sports event. An application process is required.

Hispanic Outreach

Partnering with the Will County United Way we provide the Scouting program in non-traditional setting through bi lingual, trained program leaders.  We are currently seeking Community partners to assist in the delivery of the program.
Contact Daniel.Stromberg@Scouting.org for more information.

Chartered Organizations / Traditional Scouting

Civic, faith-based, and educational organizations operate Scouting units to deliver the programs to their youth members, as well as the community at large. The responsibilities of the chartered organizations is to provide adequate meeting facilities, provide quality leadership for the Scouting unit and appointing a chartered organization representative to coordinate all Scouting unit operations within the organization.

Exploring

Exploring is a career education program with a purpose to provide experiences to help young men and women identify career possibilities while having fun in an exciting and informal environment. Businesses and organizations initiate a specific Career Explorer post by matching their people and program resources to the interested of youth in the community. The result is a program of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop.

Service Opportunities

Helping others is one of the fundamental values of Scouting and allows Scouts to see the value to contributing to their community. Organizations and groups seeking volunteers to assist with projects or events are encouraged to contact us.Furthermore, the council has service opportunities and team-building activities for organizations and groups seeking an organized staff/team activity day.

Community Partner Program

Rainbow Council, BSA has been serving the youth of Grundy, Kankakee, and Will counties since 1910 and have served over 100,000 young people and their families. Rainbow Council, BSA helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, and leadership and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives. Try new things. Provide service to others. Build self-confidence.

Please consider becoming a Friend of Scouting today.  As a Friend of Scouting, you give a young person the opportunity to better themselves and their community

Merit Badge Partnership

The Rainbow Council Merit Badge Sponsorship Program provides opportunities for Scouts to grow physically, mentally, and morally. By attending Scouting’s structured, safe activities, youth members do not have as much idle time to explore drugs, alcohol, or find themselves in as many peer pressure activities. The Scouting program is a year-round effort because the pressures on our young people increase every day. There is no better time than now to help guide youth in positive directions.

Chapel Renovation Sponsorship Opportunities

The Chapel at Rainbow Scout Reservation needs our help. This year, we are taking action and going forward with the Development of Faith in Our Youth restoration plan. This plan will include repairing the Chapel roof, cleaning and restaining the structure, adding new landscaping and an accessible entrance, as well as adding new benches and pews.

We are also using the campaign as a way to reinstall efforts into expending out religious opportunities to our youth. Programs such as our First Annual Interfaith Hike, expansion of the Religious Emblems program for both Youth and Adults, offset the costs of religious medals and ceremonies, and more.

We invite you to join us in this campaign and contribute to the restoration of this key structure at our RSR Camp.
