2017 NYLT

National Youth Leadership Training

The "Be - Know - Do" of Leadership

July 17th - July 22nd, 2017

National Youth Leadership Training (better known as NYLT), for Scouts 13 years old or over and First Class Rank, is a week of fun while learning to lead. Scouts will take away principles they can put to use units and communities.  The 2017 course will run Monday July 17th - Saturday, July 22nd.  Participants will have many new and interesting experiences.  NYLT is based on the concepts of what a Leader must BE, what a Leader must KNOW, and what a Leader must DO.  Scouts are then taught how to use these leadership skills.  Their abilities are tested and skills come alive as participants go on a quest through the meaning of leadership.  Each Scout reflects on what it means to be an effective and ethical leader.

Scouts who complete the course will become knowledgeable in:
                • Communications
                • Ethical Decision Making
                • Goal Setting
                • Team Development
                • Resolving Conflict and
                • Teaching Others

Scouts learn leadership by participating in enjoyable activities.  They return to their Units, schools and communities with new ways to lead themselves and others in any situation.  Built on the legacy of Junior Leadership Training and Wood Badge, the NYLT course teaches the best modern leadership theory, during traditional scouting activities.  Scouts work together and play together.  They participate in many challenging activities and games.  Presentations and videos help keeps Scouts attention focused on learning, and gaining confidence in their abilities. Join us for a week of fun and learning that you will never forget, or regret!  The scout must be present for the entire course.  No registrations will be accepted nor will there be any refunds after May 18th, 2017.
